What is Unify 2 ?
Unify 2 is a Host plug-in that can load all of your MIDI Effects, Audio Effects and Instruments in a single creative environment which come with over 60 plug-ins before you even add the plug-ins you own. Unify 2 will ship with over 1200 Patches using these plug-ins to make jaw dropping, inspiring and totally useful sounds. With a couple of clicks you can substitute out any plug-in with your own favorite plug-ins. The 32 Macro Knobs in Unify 2.0 EACH have an LFO built into them so that you can now with a button click have a Macro Knob moving and changing an unlimited number of parameters you”ve assigned to that knob.
Just some of the MANY updates and upgrades coming to Unify 2.0:
• Totally re-designed user interface with layers that are more flexible and provide more helpful information.
• New GuruSampler 2.0 has 3 Envelopes, 3 LFO”s, upgraded filters and everything is PER VOICE. Almost anything can modulate almost anything PLUS we now have single-sample IMPORT so you can easily get your own samples into Unify 2.0.
• New StepSequencer with tons of controls for creating fun sequences directly inside of Unify 2.0!
• New PLAY Page where the Layers and faders go away and you are left with macro knobs and beautiful imagery to inspire you.
• Built-In Recorder now can capture your performance as Audio + MIDI and can be a stereo mix or stems from every Layer in your Patch. The Metronome can play any Unify Patch as a metronome so you can now practice or perform to things far better than just a click! Oh, and The Metronome is saved PER PATCH so you have a extra Unify in every Patch to open up ideas we haven”t even thought up yet!
• The Metronome is its own masterpiece. Every patch hides a Unify plug-in, unlocking endless possibilities. In Unify 2, it has its own library—from basic clicks to any drum groove patch—and we’re loading it with tons of grooves. A wild idea that’s turning into something special.
• Audio In/out and MIDI out AND individual audio output assignments for every Layer lead to all sorts of incredible mixing and surround sound opportunities. Route a whole band into Unify if you want and record the mix with added mastering plug-ins if you wish. Our Unify 2.0 Rev 2 Owners Manual is NOW AVAILABLE.

Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers):
• Default Locations of PlugIns and Applications:
For Windows PC”s, the default plugin path is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ (unless you selected something else when running the installer) The application directory is: C:\Program Files\PlugInGuru\Unify2
For Mac the default path for the plugins is: Macintosh HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins and then either VST3 or Component folders. The Application is: Macintosh HD\Applications\PlugInguru\Unify2
• My Unify 2 Library isn”t working correctly
There might be some cases where the library doesn”t show up in the Library Directory of Unify 2. This is typically caused because the “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxxx.guru” file was set up incorrectly by Skippy for a bit (Bad Skippy!) – but that is corrected now. You can re-download the current “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxxx.guru” file and drag over the interface of Unify 2, say OK and it will install and libraries will appear as expected! Again, apologies!
• I see duplicates of some patches – is this normal?
Yes! This is perfectly normal. You will notice these duplicates are only BPM DRUM and BPM PERC Patches. That is because Unify 2 adds a new 3rd library called “Unify Metronome” that is automatically chosen when you open the Metronome to set it up. We decided to duplicate instead of move patches from the other 2 libraries to this Library. Otherwise the BPM DRUM and PERC patches would only be in the Metronome library and a lot of users might then miss these patches if they didn”t use the Metronome. Sorry if this confuses some of you, but we felt this was the better choice than moving the BPM DRUM and PERC patches into just the Metronome library.
• Do I need to keep the .guru files around?
No, you”re welcome to delete them after installing them into Unify 2. In fact, there MIGHT be a “bonus” folder of 2+ GB of data you can delete if the issue above with Libraries not showing up happened to you. Click “Settings” then select “Paths / Data” and on the “Main Data Folder” line, click the “Open…” button. This will show you the Unify folder that Unify 2 is using as home for all its content. If you see a “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxx” Folder here, delete it! It is not needed by Unify 2 and is taking up a good chunk of HD space.
• How can I set the Image background color layer so it stays in effect?
When you adjust the solid color background layer (on the Play page, click the color wheel) including the Alpha slider that changes the opacity of the solid color, you can “LOCK” this into place by clicking the “Set as Default Color” button.
• Can I set the background image to my own photo?
Yes! There are a few rules to get this to work.
1) Each Library can have it”s own image. If you change libraries, the image used for 1 library isn”t used anywhere else. So, only 1 Image per library is the rule.
2) In each Library, usually there is an “Images” folder inside a folder named “Media”. That is where your image has to go. It needs to be a .jpg or .png file and we recommend a 16:9 aspect ratio (but Unify will auto attach to edges no matter how you set the aspect ratio.)
3) In the Media folder (but not in the Images folder, where you placed your image) is a simple text file you need to make named “Links.txt”. In that file you would have a line that says: “Default” “Images/yourphotofilename.xxx”
This will tell Unify 2 to load this image when you change patches but again, only for this particular library. Just copy this Media folder to other libraries but be aware some libraries include custom images you might delete.

Here you see the organization of folders and were to put your image.
• Should I use VST2 or VST3 version of plug-ins?
In Unify 2, you can have “known” to the plug-in more than one format of the plug-in: VST2, VST3 and Audio Units can all be known and used even in the same Patch! In fact, many of our customers use Unify 2 to load older favorite VST2 plug-ins into Logic Pro – so they”re using the Audio Unit version of Unify 2 to load VST2 plug-ins into Logic Pro which CAN”T use ANY VST plug-in.
As of 2025, things have changed since we released Unify V1 in 2020. VST3 is now the #1 choice. . For many years now developers can”t even aquire a license to make a plug-in in the VST2 format. Many of our libraries did use VST2 and in 2020 we considered it our #1 choice. However, now some companies (Like U-He and others) have stopped including VST2 plug-ins with their installers – they used to include VST2 versions of their plug-ins, and now they don”t.
Some of our Unified libraries are made for VST2 format and will need to be re-created with the VST3 version. We”ll update these libraries to VST3 soon but it takes time (we have to save each patch one at a time to make these free Libraries).
The advantages of VST3 for use in Unify 2 are many. Most notably that patches made and saved in the VST3 format can be shared between Mac and PC computers with no conversion process necessary. Audio Units are only available on Apple computers and Steinberg is actively killing VST2.
TLDR: VST3 would be our recommendation.
