Unify 2

This is Unify 2!

JUST UPDATED to version 2.06 – This update adds 3 NEW MIDI Effects!!!  (Read Below)

Unify 2 is both a Synth plug-in and a plug-in host: it can load
ANY VST/VST3/AU instrument, audio-effect and MIDI-effect inside a
beautiful, easy to use plug-in or stand alone application. If you want
20 layers of Serum 2 or a chain with your favorite audio effects, all of this
can be realized (and so much more!) inside a single patch in Unify 2.

With over 100 included plug-ins, 8GB of samples and over 1300 Patches,
Unify 2 is a wonderful creative environment that offers
tools and techniques for sound design you
can’t find anywhere else!

New DEMO VERSION of Unify 2 is available for test drive HERE!

Unify 2.06 is Now Available! Updated October 10, 2026 – this update adds 2 totally NEW MIDI Effects to Unify 2: ChordMate (8 Pad chord memorize + 16 sets), Arpeggiator (killer flexible Arppeggiator with x2, x3 or x4 ratchets with % variability + 16 sets) and Orbitals (random notes dropping in spinning orbs or memorized notes + 16 sets). We’ve updated StepSequencer and NoteMate to also have 16 Sets and we also added a “X2” button to all of the Envelopes in GuruSampler 2 so you can double the length of the Envelopes for slower applications!

Enclosed in the 2.06 Updater is a “Factory Library Patch Updater” folder which has a .guru file containing 10 new Patches! Drag over the interface of Unify 2, say OK then search “206” to try these new abilities now inside of Unify 2!!

Unify 2.06 Change Log can be read HERE – we did revisions to GuruSampler that are not mentioned in the Change Log.

The MIDI EFFECT Users Guide covering the 5 new MIDI Effects we’ve added into Unify 2 can be read HERE, if interested. This .pdf is also included in the updater file for version 2.06.

Unify 2 is a Host plug-in that can load all of your MIDI Effects, Audio Effects and Instruments (VST, VST3 and AU (Mac)) in a single creative environment which come with over 60 plug-ins before you even add the plug-ins you own. Unify 2 will ship with over 1200 Patches using these plug-ins to make jaw dropping, inspiring and totally useful sounds. With a couple of clicks you can substitute out any plug-in with your own favorite plug-ins. The 32 Macro Knobs in Unify 2.0 EACH have an LFO built into them so that you can now with a button click have a Macro Knob moving and changing an unlimited number of parameters you’ve assigned to that knob.

Many New Features compared to Unify V1:

• Totally re-designed user interface with layers that are more flexible and provide more helpful information.

• New GuruSampler 2.0 has 3 Envelopes, 3 LFO’s, upgraded filters and everything is PER VOICE. Almost anything can modulate almost anything PLUS we now have single-sample IMPORT so you can easily get your own samples into Unify 2.0.

• New StepSequencer with tons of controls for creating fun sequences directly inside of Unify 2.0!

New MIDI Effect NoteMate added with update 2.01.01 does assignment to MIDI Channel by note number – you can play 4 note chords and your 5th note can be a lead synth sound for example.

• New PLAY Page where the Layers and faders go away and you are left with macro knobs and beautiful imagery to inspire you.

• Built-In Recorder now can capture your performance as Audio + MIDI and can be a stereo mix or stems from every Layer in your Patch. The Metronome can play any Unify Patch as a metronome so you can now practice or perform to things far better than just a click! Oh, and The Metronome is saved PER PATCH so you have a extra Unify in every Patch to open up ideas we haven’t even thought up yet!

• The Metronome is its own masterpiece. Every patch hides a Unify plug-in, unlocking endless possibilities. In Unify 2, it has its own library—from basic clicks to any drum groove patch—and we’re loading it with tons of grooves. A wild idea that’s turning into something special.

• Audio In/out and MIDI out AND individual audio output assignments for every Layer lead to all sorts of incredible mixing and surround sound opportunities. Route a whole band into Unify if you want and record the mix with added mastering plug-ins if you wish.

• a BONUS library called “The SuperMega V1 Sampler” that gives you a healthy taste of 27 libraries we’ve released for Unify V1 which adds 7 GB of samples to the Unify Standard Library!

Our Unify 2 UPDATED Owners Manual

This is the main interface for Unify 2.0. For those of you familiar with Unify V1, notice that the transport settings including tempo are on display all the time, no longer hidden on a separate tab.

NEW to Unify 2.0

We have a new MIDI Effect – the Step Sequencer which is useful in numerous situations from melody and basslines to being elements in a drum groove! With varying velocity and duration settings per event and even a chord mapping at the output to adjust the notes correctly while you play around the keyboard, this is a very handy tool to have built-in to Unify 2.

GuruSampler 2 is a new far more flexible heart for working with Unify 2.0. With 3 Envelopes and 3 LFO’s along with a updated filter section with saturations and a unique stereo Split parameters, many sonic adventures can be taken using GuruSampler 2.0 to get you there. Everything is on a per-voice basis so even envelope rates can be different across the keyboard, and polyphonic aftertouch means everything can dynamically change on a per-note situation. There is even an import page so you can import and map your own samples to work with GuruSampler 2 (single sample presently with plans to upgrade this in the future).

The Macro Knobs have been seriously beefed up as well. There are 7 different types of knobs available now and each knob also has a very powerful modulation engine built right into it so you can do automating of parameters on synths and plug-ins that lack LFO’s – now you have 32 just waiting to be used.

Also new is a built-in recording engine that is capable of recording a stereo mix or individual stems of each layer as well as the new Metronome (also new!) as well as MIDI. Be creative in the standalone version of Unify 2 with a drum groove for your metronome and a wonderful universe of sounds for your playground.

We have also implemented a new Play Mode that removes the programming interface leaving only images and the macro knobs for a different experience than seeing the layers.

Unify 2.0 will include more than 800 Patches.

The Sample library for GuruSampler increases from 3GB to 7.5GB!

Requires Windows 7 – Latest OS or Mac OS X 10.13 – Latest OS  (Mac Binaries are universal for both Intel and Apple processor support). Unify 1.9.1 for Mac is still available for download for those on older Mac computers (Mac OS 9 – 12).

On Windows VST3 included.

On Mac VST3 and AU included

Standalone include for both PC and Mac

At this time there is no AAX plug-in for Windows or Mac for Unify 2.

*32-Bit Plug-ins can be access with 3rd party applications (JBridge on the PC and 32 Lives on the Mac).

File Delivery: Digital Download

Here are all of the Unified Libraries for 3rd Party Plug-Ins. Please note the “VST2” or “VST3” at the end of each file name – that is the format of the plug-in you need to have known to Unify v1 or v2 for this library to load without error.

The links will take you to our DropBox download page to download that library.

In order to use these Unified Patches, you need to own the specific Plug-In, and have for the most part the VST2 version of this plug-in added to Unify’s “Known PlugIn” list.

If you get an ERROR MESSAGE (Plug-In MISSING) when trying to load a Patch from these libraries, Watch This video.

Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers):

• Default Locations of PlugIns and Applications:

For Windows PC’s, the default plugin path is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ (unless you selected something else when running the installer) The application directory is: C:\Program Files\PlugInGuru\Unify2

For Mac the default path for the plugins is: Macintosh HD\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins and then either VST3 or Component folders. The Application is: Macintosh HD\Applications\PlugInguru\Unify2

• My Unify 2 Library isn’t working correctly

There might be some cases where the library doesn’t show up in the Library Directory of Unify 2. This is typically caused because the “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxxx.guru” file was set up incorrectly by Skippy for a bit (Bad Skippy!) – but that is corrected now. You can re-download the current “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxxx.guru” file and drag over the interface of Unify 2, say OK and it will install and libraries will appear as expected! Again, apologies!

• I see duplicates of some patches – is this normal?

Yes! This is perfectly normal. You will notice these duplicates are only BPM DRUM and BPM PERC Patches. That is because Unify 2 adds a new 3rd library called “Unify Metronome” that is automatically chosen when you open the Metronome to set it up. We decided to duplicate instead of move patches from the other 2 libraries to this Library. Otherwise the BPM DRUM and PERC patches would only be in the Metronome library and a lot of users might then miss these patches if they didn’t use the Metronome. Sorry if this confuses some of you, but we felt this was the better choice than moving the BPM DRUM and PERC patches into just the Metronome library.

• Do I need to keep the .guru files around?

No, you’re welcome to delete them after installing them into Unify 2. In fact, there MIGHT be a “bonus” folder of 2+ GB of data you can delete if the issue above with Libraries not showing up happened to you. Click “Settings” then select “Paths / Data” and on the “Main Data Folder” line, click the “Open…” button. This will show you the Unify folder that Unify 2 is using as home for all its content. If you see a “Unify 2 Part 4 of 4 xxx” Folder here, delete it! It is not needed by Unify 2 and is taking up a good chunk of HD space.

• How can I set the Image background color layer so it stays in effect?

When you adjust the solid color background layer (on the Play page, click the color wheel) including the Alpha slider that changes the opacity of the solid color, you can “LOCK” this into place by clicking the “Set as Default Color” button.

• Can I set the background image to my own photo?

Yes! There are a few rules to get this to work.

1) Each Library can have it’s own image. If you change libraries, the image used for 1 library isn’t used anywhere else. So, only 1 Image per library is the rule.

2) In each Library, usually there is an “Images” folder inside a folder named “Media”. That is where your image has to go. It needs to be a .jpg or .png file and we recommend a 16:9 aspect ratio (but Unify will auto attach to edges no matter how you set the aspect ratio.)

3) In the Media folder (but not in the Images folder, where you placed your image) is a simple text file you need to make named “Links.txt”. In that file you would have a line that says: “Default”    “Images/yourphotofilename.xxx”

This will tell Unify 2 to load this image when you change patches but again, only for this particular library. Just copy this Media folder to other libraries but be aware some libraries include custom images you might delete.

Here you see the organization of folders and were to put your image.

• Should I use VST2 or VST3 version of plug-ins?

In Unify 2, you can have “known” to the plug-in more than one format of the plug-in: VST2, VST3 and Audio Units can all be known and used even in the same Patch! In fact, many of our customers use Unify 2 to load older favorite VST2 plug-ins into Logic Pro – so they’re using the Audio Unit version of Unify 2 to load VST2 plug-ins into Logic Pro which CAN’T use ANY VST plug-in.

As of 2025, things have changed since we released Unify V1 in 2020. VST3 is now the #1 choice. . For many years now developers can’t even aquire a license to make a plug-in in the VST2 format. Many of our libraries did use VST2 and in 2020 we considered it our #1 choice. However, now some companies (Like U-He and others) have stopped including VST2 plug-ins with their installers – they used to include VST2 versions of their plug-ins, and now they don’t.

Some of our Unified libraries are made for VST2 format and will need to be re-created with the VST3 version. We’ll update these libraries to VST3 soon but it takes time (we have to save each patch one at a time to make these free Libraries).

The advantages of VST3 for use in Unify 2 are many. Most notably that patches made and saved in the VST3 format can be shared between Mac and PC computers with no conversion process necessary. Audio Units are only available on Apple computers and Steinberg is actively killing VST2.

TLDR: VST3 would be our recommendation.

  • An 'Evolution'

For many of us, synths and software such as the Korg m1, the Wavestation, and Spectrasonics RMX have been musically inspirational and very rewarding to work with. They’ve helped form our ‘sound world’ and a way of thinking and working. It’s crazy the John ‘Skippy’ Lehmkuhl had such a huge hand in each of these instruments. And now he’s created Unify 2! It’s like…you can tell! Unify 2 seems like a natural evolution of his mind and his thinking….being made available to us in order spark our own creativity. Unify 2 just seems easy and natural to work with. I’ve only owned it a couple of weeks, but it feels instantly comfortable to work with. And the amount of time that’s going to be saved by using Unify 2 in my upcoming projects will be fantastic! What a great way to streamline so much of the creative process! (…and, the M1 and Wavestation libraries sound even better within Unify 2 due to some extra ‘magic’, bringing what seems like new life to them for today’s world. That, by itself, is worth the price.) And all the included synths/samplers, patches, grooves, metronomes, effects, etc. are just so musically and creatively USEFUL! Wow….so much greatness in one piece of musical software. I didn’t think I’d really need it or want it, but am so glad the little voice in my head said ‘check it out!’ This thing is a game changer in so many ways. Congratulations on such a musical piece of software history that’s been made!

  • My go to plugin

Since I bought this it’s been my go to plugin inside Cubase Pro 15. The unified arturia libraries are awesome if you have pigments.
I only have this vst maybe 1/3 figured out and, again, it’s my go to plugin. I can host everything I want, make layers. Get instant inspiration from additional libraries that are available, make my own lowers with samples in those etc.
It’s fun, glad I got it + the additional libraries I have.

    English Translation:

I am in possession of ableton live12 and a lot of plugins.

With ableton I can also play multiple synths at the same time, but with Unify it's even easier.

And you can add so much to it, and save it as a preset sound.

You can go very deep into it, very complex if you want.

So for me Unify 2 is just the basis for making music.

  • Best thing ever!

I’ve been making music with computers since 1987, and I have to say that there is nothing quite as flexible and inspiring as Unify2. The first version was a hit, but this is just so much better. If you’re like me, and have thousands of plugins already, this is a great too to bring it all together to add muscle to your DAW’s potential or your stage experience. Kudos to John, Paul Shane and Taylor.

  • A Major Leap Forward in Modern Sound Design

Unify v2 is a major leap forward over the already very good version 1. The interface has improved a lot—it’s clean, clear, and functional. Everything is laid out with the user in mind, and it’s a powerful synthesizer where you can create layered sounds you’ve never, ever heard before. Wonderful! 🎶

  • Amazing

I’m a Unify 1 user who didn’t hesitate for a second to jump on the bandwagon of the version 2. Great update with great improvements. I love it

  • Unify Just Got Better

If you thought Unify was great .. Try Unify 2.. Its brilliant and keeps getting better with amazing updates

The record facility is my favorite new feature, tied in with the amazing metronome. Wake up with a tune in your head.. powerup Unify2 .. press record .. play the ditty.. save the stems, including Midi!! , and hey presto you have it to work with in the morning ..Sorted :)

  • Great Update

Unify 2.1 is an absolute joy for me to work with and feels like a genuine leap forward in music production.

With NoteMate, the new metronome, switches and sliders, and other expanded functions, composing useful soundtracks has become much easier.

I look forward to seeing many new libraries released and existing ones modernized to fully leverage Unify’s powerful new functionality.

This new version of Unify gives programmers so many new opportunities that future libraries will be truly spectacular. Imagine a fully “Notemated” library utilizing the BBC Symphony Orchestra or other similar libraries. It is quite something special.

Adding a “Play” interface to Unify, as was just added to Pigments 7, would make things even easier for non-musicians like me. With the encoders and the on/off buttons, we are certainly moving in that direction.

A job well done by the development team.

  • You need Unify!

Because Unify is so powerful and has so many capabilities it’s hard to cover everything you can do with it. For starters, it can be run as a stand-alone app or as a plugin within your DAW making it incredibly flexible. Take the time to explore everything it can do and Unify will become an indispensable part of your music making workflow. Below I’ve listed the 3 main ways that I use Unify and the truth is it would be worth buying for any one of these reasons. The fact that you can accomplish all 3 with a single tool makes Unify an unbeatable value!

    1) Universal VST Rack system

Unify can host 3rd party VSTs and FX meaning you can build and save your own instrument/synth patches by combining built in instruments along with any VSTs you already own. Once saved, these custom Unify patches can be used within any DAW (or standalone) giving you the ability to create your own library of unique, favorite patches.

    2) Modular ready to use multi-instrument

Included are 1000s of free patches covering nearly every genre. There are synths/organic instruments/drums/loops/one shots that can be used in endless combinations. So even if you don’t want to create your own patches, there are so many available, you will never run out of inspiration.

    3) Live jamming

Use the playable/switchable rhythms and patterns and Unify can become a complete backing band for practicing and jamming. There are tons of built in patches to get started and many other expansions that fill in additional genres. Or you can create your own using midi & the included arpeggiator and anything is possible.

  • OMG!!!!!

I did not think it could have been made so much better thank you to all the team the workflow is epic

  • Ultimate Plugin Playground

Unify 2 is an incredibly cool and FUN playground for your plugin instruments and effects. See my YouRube channel (@kcrosley) for an overview and patch ideas. Guru Sampler 2 is an awesome and easy-to-use multisample player, the new metronome is WILD, and everything is much more informative and easy to use. A must-have for serious (or even casual) sound designers, producers, and synth-heads!

  • Unify 2 wonderful

I have been a fan of John’s for many years now. Dedicated to watching his live streams every weekend. I am so happy that John has progressed so far in the years that I have watched & the wonderful people that have joined him & helped create the amazing update from Unify1 to the amazing Unify2. Paul has done a wonderful job turning Unify into an absolute POWERHOUSE. Unify 2 is Truley a no brainer to purchase.

  • One of the absolute best plugins I have ever bought

And now it just got an order of magnitude better – it is the true giant swiss army knife of vst plugins.

  • A spectacular advancement.

I really pushed Shane and Paul to get polyphonic aftertouch on Guru Sampler. And they went way beyond that with this powerful polyphonic modulation matrix and the smoothing functions that bring real fluidity and musicality. Now, considering all the available libraries, you could say that Guru Sampler 2 plus the multi-layers in Unify 2 could rival Omnisphere. A spectacular advancement.

  • 100%

I have been battling for FIVE YEARS to get my DAW (REAPER) to do what Unify 2 does! I have struggled with custom JS & LUA scripts, routing busses and numerous themes but REAPER still does NOT work properly or look like I want.

Just discovered Unify 2 and purchased it. Unify 2 does ALL that I want, OUT THE BOX, and it looks stunning!! Unify 2 worked 100% as I have been wanting, within 5 minutes of installation! Absolutely Incredible! Amazing work John & Team! I am 100% thrilled!!!

Finally, I can start creating music like I have been dreaming of for 5 Years!

    Thank you! ♥
